I was 20 years old when I became interested in the profession. I began my career in the workshop of a violin maker in my hometown of Caen, in Normandy, which allowed me to learn a craft and also trained me in working with wood and the tools it requires. It introduced me to smells of all kinds: adhesives, varnishes, resins, and turpentine.
I then registered at the International School of Lutherie (violin and violin family making) in Cremona, where I learned the skills from my shop owner, Giorgio Scolari, who I worked with after obtaining my diploma in 2004. I then continued my training at an instrument restoration internship with Frederic Becker in Montpellier. I also received the third prize at the National Violin-Making Competition, the "Lago d ´Iseo"; in Pisogne in 2008 with a violin inspired by the work of the Amati´s brothers.
Since April 2009, I´ve been working in Eric Blot´s workshop, specializing in instrument restoration activities.
Most of my time is now devoted to the construction of modern violins, violas and cellos, but also to baroque instruments. I carefully respect the techniques of the Italian tradition and am inspired by the surrounding culture, the life of the city of Cremona and its violin makers, who maintain their tradition with pride.
